Week Calendar

This class combines the ancient wisdom of Qi energy with modern techniques to maximize the brain’s functions. Each class includes stretching, core strengthening, breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation.

Play with your toddler and meet other families with young children. 18 to 30 months with an adult.  No siblings, please. 

Register for Session 1 or Session 2.

Take a full-length practice test under timed conditions. Essential to being ready for the official test, a proctored practice exam will help build testing endurance and provide a real-time snapshot of testing performance.

Grades: 2-5.

Join a Long Island Chess Nuts instructor for four weeks of chess instruction and games.

*Caregivers must remain in the library while their children are attending library programs.

Ages 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 with an adult.

Enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays, and a short storybook film.

*No siblings, please.

Grades: 2-5.

This class is especially suited for the older adult, and combines the basics of Simply Stronger and Simply Stretch. You will need light hand weights for the class.

Mindful, gentle, flowing movements to improve balance, strength, and stability. Wear sneakers or soft sole shoes. A chair can be used if needed. Fee $40.

Qi Gong is an ancient Asian healing mind-body practice that means energy work.

Learn the rules, develop skills, and play against other teens.

Registration for SSD residents begins March 24; all others one week later if available.

Learn all of the crochet stitches, how to read a pattern, how to increase and decrease, and learn how to make a scarf. Materials to bring to class: 2 balls of worsted weight yarn in a light color, 1 crochet hook size G. Fee:$20.

In this lecture, we will explore the life and political philosophy of the New York Founding father currently dancing his way across a Broadway stage.

Grades: 3-5.

Celebrate May the 4th Be With You by making Star Wars patterns and more with Perler Beads.

Learn basic yoga postures and relaxation techniques that will enable you to develop a daily practice of your own.

Grades: 4-7.

All community group meetings must be open to the public as per New York State Education Law.

Help a long-time shelter pet get adopted. Create a board with pictures, stickers, and other embellishments to help a long-time shelter resident get adopted. Boards will be donated to a shelter.
