Widely viewed as a pivotal contest that would shape the country’s future, the 1960 presidential election lived up to the hype and became one for the history books. In this lecture we will seek to get a better sense of the issues, the use of mass media to promote each side, the electoral map shaping the campaign and the candidates for office including the three that would become president in succeeding years.
