In-Person: The History of Freedomland

Learn about the history of what is known as the “Disneyland of the East,” Freedomland enjoyed significant connections to Disney, Hollywood, Broadway, local television and the leading entertainers of the day. The landowner, local politicians, city planners and construction unions considered the park a “placeholder” until property variances permitted significant development of the marshland. The variances provided the green light for the construction of Co-op City.
